PLT’S A CHRISTMAS STORY: A NOSTALGIC HOLIDAY CLASSIC BROUGHT TO LIFE ON STAGE

Pensacola, FL – Pensacola Little Theatre (PLT) invites audiences of all ages to revisit the timeless holiday tale of A Christmas Story,running December 13-22, 2024, as part of the Treehouse Theatre Series. This production, adapted for the stage by Philip Grecian and Jean Shepherd, is directed by Benjamin Haupt, who brings a deeply personal touch to the story, having played the role of Ralphie as a child.

A Christmas Story follows Ralphie Parker, a young boy with a singular holiday wish: to receive a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas, despite the iconic warning, "You'll shoot your eye out." Set in the 1930s, Ralphie navigates bullies, schoolyard politics, and family dynamics, all while keeping his holiday dream alive.

Michael Daw - Ralph

Michael Daw is glad to be back on the main stage at PLT. He was last seen in The Lieutenant of Inishmore and is a member of Pensacola’s premiere professional improv troupe, Improvable Cause. As a Christmas enthusiast with eggnog coursing through his veins, Daw is pleased to be performing the role of Ralph in the theatrical adaptation of one of the greatest Christmas stories ever told.


Toryn McCollum - Ralphie

Toryn first discovered his love for theater by watching his sister, Rowan, perform on stage. He is an active member of the PLT community, taking classes in both acting and musical theater. Toryn has also appeared in numerous PLT shows, including Peter Pan (Captain Hook), Disney’s Frozen Kids (King Agnarr), and Seussical Jr. (Wickersham Brother). Toryn attends Montessori School of Pensacola and loves building with Legos, everything Star Wars, and tasty burgers.


Keegan Flaugh - Old Man

Keegan was last seen on the PLT mainstage as Johnny Cantone in The 1940’s Radio Hour. This production marks the second time that Keegan has brought the Old Man to life on stage, the first being the musical version at Town Hall Arts Center in Denver. Some of Keegan’s favorite roles from previous roles include Smudge (Forever Plaid), Peron (Evita), Captain Von Trapp (Sound of Music), Nicky Arnstein (Funny Girl), and Lawrence (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels). Special thanks to our incredible director, Benjamin, for your tireless patience and dedication to getting each moment right in this iconic and beloved classic!


Jana Miles - Mother

Jana is having a blast playing at PLT this year! She made her onstage debut this summer as Queen Belle in Disney’s Descendants and continued her backstage support teching for Incorruptible. By day, she is Pensacola Opera’s videographer and runs her photo & video business, Milestones Studios. She is so honored and excited to step into the well-loved role of Mother in this classic show. She feels so lucky to be a part of this community and to celebrate the holidays with you!


Rylan Hardy - Randy

Rylan Hardy lives in Pensacola, Florida, and is in the second grade at Pine Meadow Elementary School. Rylan’s activities include soccer, flag football, swimming, and he is working towards his black belt in Kyuki-Do. He loves the beach, singing, dancing, and reading. Rylan has attended acting classes at Pensacola Little Theater for two years, performing in the Broadway Babies Program showcases of Annie and Frozen. Rylan is thrilled to have the role of Randy in A Christmas Story, which will be his first time in a full production.


Sara Lisa Marie Jones - Miss Shields

This is Sara’s second show here at Pensacola Little Theatre! In the past, she played the Nurse in Unrequited, PLT’s immersive version of Romeo and Juliet. Her start in theatre began in high school, with Escambia High School’s production of Almost Maine in 2019. More recently, she has been cast in Wishful Thinking and Macbeth: Sands of Fate at the University of West Florida.


Kai Hanson - Scut Farkus

Kai is 14 years old and adores all things theater and performing arts. When he is not acting on stage, Kai is an active member of Broadway Lights Dance Center competition team, competing in styles such as musical theater, tap, and contemporary. This past summer, Kai participated in PLT’s production of Disney’s Descendants and absolutely fell in love with the positive culture and people at PLT.


Austin Cross - Flick

Austin’s interest in theatre blossomed through participation in Pensacola Little Theater’s summer programs, where he had the opportunity to assume roles in stage productions of his favorite films, such as Disney’s Frozen Kids and Disney’s Descendants. He has also enjoyed working with the Pensacola Opera children’s programs, where he took on lead roles in Figaro, The Magic Flute, Die Fledermaus, and more. Austin takes pride in nourishing additional hobbies, such as singing in his school choir and performing violin with the Emerald Coast Honors Orchestra. He has dreams of continuing to foster his talents and becoming an onstage performer when he grows up!

Bradley Barber - Schwartz

When Bradley’s not playing DND in Mr. Brandon’s class here at PLT, you can find him drawing, reading, playing video games, or on the tennis court. Following in his big sister’s footsteps, he’s right at home here with the wonderful community of PLT. Previously, he’s played a super elated Elf #2 (Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Jr.), Victor Ellen (Nebula of Georgia), and the eclectically distinguished Mayor of Whoville (Seussical Jr.). Bradley is so delighted to play Ralphie’s mischievous buddy, Schwartz, that he’s going to go ahead and triple-dog-dare you to come back and see the show a second time!


Lila Grace Rowell - Esther Jane

Eleven-year-old Lila Grace brings fresh energy to the stage. She has found a real love for acting through participating in her church Christmas programs. She is an avid reader and loves animals and gymnastics. She is also an exceptional student and percussionist in her school band. Lila Grace is excited to make her first stage appearance with PLT.

Em Colvin - Helen

Em is a 5th-grade gifted student at Lipscomb Elementary and an aspiring thespian. They love theater and musicals, Greek Mythology, and their father dearly. Their favorite color is lavender, and they love all their amazing pets! They have had 3 acting performances and are excited to do more. They love reading books and learning new things. A Christmas Story is the first PLT production, and hopefully, there will be many more to come.


Brendan Carmack - Ensemble

Brendan attends Brown Barge Middle School. His love of theatre began with a summer camp at PLT three Summers ago. Brendan has appeared in PLT’s summer camp edition of Disney’s Descendants as Jay and most recently performed in Little Red Robin Hood as Humpty Humpty. He loves gaming and is currently undefeated in the Junior Varsity esports team at BBMS.

Konner Metcalf - Ensemble

Konner is 12 years old and loves acting. He has been in a few school plays, such as The Lion King, Aladdin, and Horton Hears a Who. This is Konner’s first role with PLT.

Piper Christian - Ensemble

As a Pensacola native and a Ballet Pensacola dancer, Piper has grown up at The Center. This will be her debut performance with PLT, and she is excited to be a part of this holiday classic!

Lyla Morrow - Ensemble

Lyla has big dreams of being a performer and is thrilled to make her theatrical debut with PLT. Lyla is a fifth-grade student at West Navarre Intermediate, where she is a member of the Navigator Choir, Running Club, the ACES gifted program, and Anchored4Life. She loves to sing and is a talented songwriter. Lyla enjoys playing sports, participating in any competition, creating Youtube videos, and going to Disney with her family.

Director, Benjamin Haupt

about the director

Benjamin is a graduate of The University of Alabama’s Department of Theatre and Dance. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a concentration in Musical Theatre, he moved to New York City and began working professionally.

Regionally, Benjamin was seen as a dancer and u/s King Triton in Disney’s The Little Mermaid (Red Mountain Theatre Company), Dean in All Shook Up (SummerTide Theatre), and was featured in the dance ensemble of Salgado Production’s Ragtime, which played a limited engagement at The Axelrod Performing Arts Center with Revolución Latina. In New York City, Benjamin was a member of the Original Cast of the Off-Broadway Production of Frankenstein: The Musical. Following his NYC departure, Benjamin has been seen locally as Nick Arnstein in Funny Girl (Pensacola State College) and Dr. Frederick Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein (Stagecrafters Community Theatre).
