snow white and the prince

Snow White prepares for her birthday ball and dreams of finding her prince charming. When the star-crossed couple meets it’s love at first sight, but the vain and evil Queen – who fears the princess’ beauty – will stop at nothing to be the fairest of the land. With the help of a trusted friend, Snow White is forced to flee into the forest. This romantic and funny adventure has all your beloved characters and a few more beside: the raven-haired and resourceful Snow White, the very charming Prince Philippe, his kind and shrewd butler Rupert, the evil and devious Queen, a witty and slightly beleaguered Magical Mirror – and of course, there are the Dwarves – need we say more? A clever retelling of a classic tale – one for children and adults alike!

from The Director

I was supposed to direct an entirely different musical this summer, but part of adjusting to safely doing theatre during these times meant the criteria for choosing a show needed to change. I really wanted to do a family friendly musical, so I went searching for a show that checked all the boxes. We chose a musical that has a young cast, a relatively small cast, and a musical that does not require an orchestra. I believe this is a first for PLT in that we are using soundtracks as our accompaniment which eliminates the need for a large orchestra. We love a live orchestra, but these uncertain times call for creativity and using smaller groups of people to create a show. My main goal was to choose a show that felt familiar and brought smiles and JOY to our community.

This is my first time to direct a show at PLT. I have performed on stages for years, knowing that someday I wanted to sit at the director’s table. It was my turn this time and I have enjoyed every moment. I am extremely proud of the work and energy that the cast, crew and production team have poured into this show. I am so thankful to be surrounded by such creative, kind, talented and supportive people.

Although this is a different version of Snow White than perhaps the widely known Disney version, it’s beauty, magic and heart are the same. It is our hope that this retelling of a classic fairytale puts a smile on your face and allows you to escape to a magical land where we all live “happily ever after”!

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Ann Ferguson has been a part of the Pensacola performing arts community for 24 years. She has numerous professional theatre credits on her resume, but also has a love for community and educational theatre.
