Clue: On Stage
clue: on stage
Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by Wadsworth – the butler, Miss Scarlett, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up. Clue is the comedy whodunit that will leave both cult-fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out…WHO did it, WHERE, and with WHAT!

from The Director
In 1985, I was the Lead Projectionist for a movie theater in an Atlanta suburb. Part of my job required me to assemble and preview the 35mm films, when the cannisters arrived. I remember watching CLUE THE MOVIE for the first time, and I became an instant fan. However, back then only one ending was sent to a theater. Lucky for me, the other Lead Projectionists at the “sister cinemas” had the other two endings. So, we all agreed to “preview” the films with the other two endings at each other’s movie theaters.
Today when you watch the video – either on DVD or stream it online – you get all three endings in one viewing. Years later – decades actually – when I was asked about directing a stage version of the 1985 film, I jumped at the chance.
SPOILER ALERT! - - While the stage version is not exactly like the movie, it is just as funny and has been a blast to put together. And thanks to an extremely talented team of designer/artisans, actors, and crew, I hope that you enjoy the production as much as I have enjoyed directing it. And we all hope that you find it as funny as we do…so that when we ask “Who did it? In what room? And with what?” – we can say it was “The Audience in the Theater with Laughter”!
