A STUDIO 400 PRODUCTION

WRITTEN BY Selina fillinger

DIRECTED BY barbara jacobs

Set against the backdrop of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, POTUS throws audiences into a whirlwind of comedic drama. When the President inadvertently ignites a PR nightmare with just one four-letter word, it's up to seven fierce and resilient women to prevent a national—and global—crisis. These women, the brains behind the Oval Office, navigate a series of outrageous events in their quest to protect the commander-in-chief from his own blunders.

POTUS Shines a spotlight on the women often working behind the scenes, tackling the absurdities of politics while managing to keep everything from collapsing.

NO VIDEO OR PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED DURING THE PERFORMANCE.

Cast

ELEANORE ARMANI AS HARRIET

Eleanore Armani is excited to be back in PLT's Studio 400 space, where she was most recently seen in Incorruptible playing the Peasant Woman. She has performed in several studio 400 shows, including Short Attention Span Theater, Little Wars, Mindgame, and Taking Stock. She was seen as Judy in PLT's Mainstage production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and was involved in the unique production of Unrequited. She is also involved in other local theater and film projects around the Pensacola area.

RENEE JORDAN AS JEAN

A fan of the PLT stage, she has recently been seen as Vern in Five Lesbians Eating A Quiche and Agatha Christie in Little Wars. Renee is the current Overlord for 24 Hour Theater, bringing writing, acting, and directing together in one event! Directing is also a passion, and Renee has been known to stage manage a musical, whether it's from the 80s or 90s.

BROOKE HARDY AS STEPHANIE

Brooke has performed on Pensacola's stages since 1993. Her notable roles include Adelaide (Guys and Dolls), Patsy Cline (Always, Patsy Cline), Little Red Riding Hood (Into the Woods), and Grandma Addams (The Addams Family). She is also an original member and co-owner of Pensacola's professional improv comedy troupe, Improvable Cause. Brooke was most recently seen as Melpomene in a 2023 fundraiser production of Xanadu.

EMILY TRYON AS DUSTY

Emily is from Gulf Breeze, FL, and earned her BFA in acting from Elon University. Some favorite roles include Edward/Victoria (Cloud 9), Arlie (Getting Out), Nurse Kelly (Harvey), and Van's Sister (Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead). Emily works as a local veterinarian, and in her spare time, she enjoys knitting, running, and spending time with her pets.

DANIELLE WILLIAMS AS BERNADETTE

Danielle has spent most of her career behind the scenes with a BA in Theater from Georgia College and State University (specializing in directing because she likes telling people what to do). She's been an Assistant Costume Designer at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company and Wardrobe Supervisor at Barrington Stage Company, Mill Mountain Theatre, and Cortland Repertory Theatre. Now, in her acting debut at Pensacola Little Theatre, she's still figuring out whether she's actually acting or just being herself on Stage—and honestly, the jury's still out!

GRACE GOLDSTON AS CHRIS

Grace is excited to return to PLT. Having studied theater in college, she has always been an avid lover of the arts. She has performed, directed, and assisted with several productions, including Treasure Island, M'Liss My Western Miss, Anne of Green Gables, A Christmas Carol, and Clue. When she is not involved in theater, Grace is usually ballroom dancing or traveling with her friends. She hopes everyone enjoys the humor, energy, and female empowerment that POTUS brings.

TARA WILLIAMS AS MARGARET

Tara is excited to return to the PLT for another production. She was previously seen on Stage as Coach in Disney's Descendants this past summer. She has served in the United States Marine Corps and has plenty of experience performing and speaking in front of a crowd/audience. Fulfilling a long-time passion for the theater and arts, she continues to look forward to more productions.

from the director

The political scene today! Whew! It seems to be all about who gets the power. In directing this play, I found it fun to think about those people behind the scenes who know all too well the human foolishness and frailty that exists in our chosen leaders. What tremendous energy and creativity it must take from dedicated public servants to hold it all together! And for the rest of us watching it all unfold, how absolutely essential a sense of humor has become.

About the director

Barbara has appeared on stage most recently in Incorruptible, Little Wars, and Switzerland. She proudly serves as the Studio 400 Chairperson and has directed a number of shows for the Studio and MainStage. Some favorites include Hand to God, Wonder of the World, The 39 Steps, and The Lieutenant of Inishmore.
